Much too difficult to offer a committed opinion with these pix.

With very high potential value,
best to take this coin to be examined hand held, under ideal lighting conditions, with a 10 X loupe, by a professional, just as the TPGraders do.

It is worth remembering that all dates and MM's of American gold have been faked, - the best made from recycled genuine low value gold coins.

That is a high dollar coin if authentic. I am not qualified to offer an opinion, especially based on these photos.

I would take it to a reputable dealer for examination.

Since it is in a trusted TPG holder, isn't it guaranteed?

To make money, people go to the trick. The plate can be fake or a coin. In addition, the coin may be real, but in worse condition than indicated on the slab (coin substitution).

We need to examine the slab. Whether there are any signs of forced entry.

Sure looks good, but would agree with cautionary comments above.

The barcode scans correctly. That's not proof that it's real, but most often the barcode on fakes is garbage.

I have a penny in a slab that looks just like this. Take a few more pictures around the slab, sides etc and measure it maybe? And I can compare it to mine, but first glance it looks good to me.

Nope. That version of the ANACS slab was graded when ANACS was owned by Amos Press. That's at least three owners ago

Anderson Press - 1990

Driving Force LLC - 2007 - James Taylor

ANACS trademark registered 2008
https://www.numismaticnews.net/arch...ocates-anacs

EWK LLC

LLC formed 7/31/2015
ANACS trademark registered 2016
Last report filed with CO Sec of State 2019, currently non-compliant

Current?

The https://anacs.com/about-anacs/ page scrubs a lot of the history

Quote:
In 1989 ANACS discontinued issuing photo certificates and began encapsulating coins in tamper evident plastic holders. A year later, the ANA board of governors sold ANACS to Amos Press, publishers of Coin World. In December 2007, ANACS was acquired by EKW, LLC, of Colorado and on January 1, 2008 was relocated to Englewood, Colorado, a Denver suburb.
