Every Single coin collector who has ever purchased a product from The United States Mint Knows the Fulfillment Center's return address,

That's the Problem, I ordered a 2024 Uncirculated American Silver Eagle when Spot Silver was around $111.00/oz.

Then the US Mint's were selling the ASE's for $91.00 plus the Newer shipping fee of $5.95, Totalling the cost delivered to $96.95.

After waiting days, Like Always very Happy a New coins coming soon, I saw the mail man deliver what looked like My U S Mint's delivery box.

About 5-minutes had passed getting to the mailbox.

I opened the mailbox and saw the Return address of " Fullfilment Center " and was Thrilled, Gathering up the mail and the package, I noticed the box was Very Light, After a moment I realized the Box was Empty.

The Mint usually clear tape wraps the box at the opening area and that tape was apparently cut open, Nothing in the box except the bubble wrap, Not even My receipt with My personal information Etc.

I Found out On Long Island at least, We the People can Not call Our Local post offices Anymore. They want us Now to call a I -800 number. No More personal conversations with the Local Post Office . The computerized system took my report of Mail Theft, This is Not the First time, In fact it's the Fourth time My mail @ the Post Office, Or My House was Stolen. Contacted the Post-Master General Back around 2000 when it First happened and was assured, The USPS System is secure, Since then 3-More times. ( Back then I usually ordered Annually approx 45-50 orders per year ).

I have been ordering from the Mints for Decades and wanted to Share My experiences with The United States Postal System and Theft, The Mints Must sell Millions of coins and Medals to All who seek, The Return address on Our U S Mint packages is Obviously Recognizable by Millions and Millions of people, Some of which Clearly do not know how to be Honest, Not saying a blanket over-all person statement, I am saying there are Those out Everywhere that Clearly recognize the return address and Can Not keep their hands off other people's belongings......

I just wanted the ASE, Now I am Hoping I can Still get the ASE Replacement...

Although I paid $96.95, They now sell for $173.00 + $5.95 shipping.

Thought I would ask other members of Their " Theft in Mailing Coins or Medals Problems " and Having them Disappear Too.

Never had a problem with that here. A US Mint package that was supposed to be signed for even got left in my box, no problem.
We are expecting Mint packages when they are shipped and know what they look like and know "typically" that the return address will be Fulfillment Center and the address is usually some "dock". At some point early on, a group of people will know what the boxes all are, I'm sure in the locality, people probably know about the Fulfillment Center. Maybe they "Fulfill" other companies orders, too, so it possibly is a bit of a mystery. I'd like to think the further away from the Fulfillment Center the box gets, the less likely it is that postal employees will know "what's in the box". Lately I've been thinking the package looks generic enough that the carrier things I'm getting "little blue pills", lol.
The shipment should be insured, I guess I'd bring it up with the Mint. More than likely you're just getting your money back.
Was there sign of tampering? Or damage? Was anything in the box at all, receipt, padding?
PS I'll go ahead and ask, I've wanted to for awhile; why are random words in your sentences starting with a capital letters?

I wonder if it would matter if you got a PO box to send them to? Hard to tell where they are being stolen, and if it would make a difference. Given most people's problem free delivery, it would make more sense that the theft is occurring locally. Was there any way it could have been stolen while in your mailbox (after delivery)? Evidence on the ground or Ring camera video?
I've heard it's a federal crime to steal US Mail, so it is kind of a big deal.
Here's a thought I just had.
Get one of those air tags (tracking device), get it hidden in a Mint clamshell (with a fake coin), get it in the official box with the same return address, have someone mail it to you. See where the tracking device ends up.
Perfect opportunity coming up, when the ASE releases happen this month, in case someone knows you order US Mint coins and know when they should arrive.
Alternatively, just keep an eye on tracking and when marked "out for delivery" just wait for the mail to arrive, it have a camera or neighbor watch the box, it even have your mail held at the post office that day, something along those lines.

Sorry, I saw you said only bubble wrap and that the tape was cut.
Was there enough time for someone to open the package from the time it was delivered to the time you got the box?
I like the tracker idea the best, especially if the tracker is small enough to hide under the insert that the capsule fits in to. I have a good coin to volunteer for the job. Would need help for the tracker though
Additional thought though.
Maybe the best course of action would be to go to your local Post office, with the box, and talk to the post master about it. You can tell them my idea. Maybe they have a better way to track it.
I do have really everything needed to do this except the tracker. A fake coin and clamshell/OGP enough to make it look like something of value, and US Mint boxes. I'd only have to fake a shipping label so it looks like the Mint shipped it and is still a valid shipping label.
But again, the US Postal service may be able to investigate who's stealing coins..

Gilly ,

Thanks for your reply, I tend to Emphasis a sentence with a capital letter for Energy or Impact. My English major lovely bride Reminds Me All the time, Thanks.....

The local post office has a post master, They have been on vacation for Weeks I am told, I asked the stand-in post master to please contact me and was assured they would, NOT.

Theft of Federal mail is a Crime, Your idea sounds sweet, They would probably steal that Too.

It's time for a Change, Address the packaging/labels and that Should hold them off, For a while......

The point is, with the tracking device, commonly called an air tag or luggage tracker, is your WANT them to steal it so you can see where it got stolen and where it went.
Again I'm not sure how small they are, but to ditch it unseen in the clamshell would be best as they are just stealing the clamshell/coin and leaving the padding. So just "in the box someplace" won't do. I bought a couple fake Apollo 11 coins that I got reimbursed for through PayPal and they never asked for them back, that would be a good decoy. And I have extra OGP and COAs.
Well, ultimately, what I would do now though:
GO to the post office and ask for the post master (every post office has one, as far as I know; if they say the post master is actually at a different post office, go there then! Sometimes a post master covers other smaller post offices, I believe that's true.
Also
Go to the post office website, I believe there is a way to report this.
But if you get a hassle from your local Post office, I'd start getting really suspicious about what's going on.
Also, you ever replied (let me look again, nope) about my wondering, was there enough time from when you saw it being delivered to the time you got to the post box, for someone to have stolen it from your post box? Big difference, inside vs outside theft.

A slight difference from what I said. I mean "theft" is obviously a crime. Stealing US Mail is a federal offense.

That Is True, However If Local Authorities aren't willing to enforce the laws what does it matter. Here in California people have had "ring" video of thieves stealing packages and within those videos a license plate and a clear photo of the person is/are visible and the Police do nothing....I think MorgansDad being in New York would get the same reaction/response. "They only steal just to survive" is what we hear.

MD...sorry for your loss...I see a refund in your future and no coin....

Thanks Gilly/Greasy,

That's Not my hopes. I see the U S Mint's Still offer Older ASE's, I want what I bought, Just the One !!!

However they charge a Tad more for the same coin Today....

People are send coins and precious metals through the mail all the time, I just think We the collectors are being robbed, as stated above, Along with, Nobody cares....

The Long Island news stations showed a postal worker ripping open envelopes and pocketing the contents, This apparently goes on all to often.

I am a small fishy, There are collectors out there that have had Entire collections Stolen, and they Never see their coins again.....

#1 comment is you still haven't replied to what I feel is important to know, was there time for someone to have stolen it from your mailbox? You saw it out (being put) in the box, was it out of your sight long enough for this to have happened.

I guess you're not understanding how "federal law" works. Don't contact the local authorities, you go to the post office, they investigate/prosecute mail theft:

"Mail theft is a federal crime (18 U.S. Code § 1708) punishable by up to five years in prison and $250,000 in fines, covering the theft, destruction, or possession of stolen mail. Incidents include mailbox theft, carrier robberies, and insider fraud. Report suspected theft immediately to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service at https://www.uspis.gov/report."

You see a lot of videos of delivery services and Amazon packages being porch pirated a lot. That is not USPS. JUST a crime, not a federal offense. Point being missed here.

I looked at a box from a recent US Mint delivery, probably my Marine Corp privy. It was sent ground advantage. $100 insurance.
So ultimately you're going to contact the Mint, right, telling them what happened. I can only guess, but I really don't think they aren't going to say "oh, we're so sorry about that, let us send you a replacement coin". (I don't know what they do about shipments that cost over $100. Since so many products are over $100 now, they probably need to review procedures. I should look at what they did when they shipped my gold Sac dollar).
At any rate, the Mint night tell you to contact USPS to start an investigation, or they might. My thought is, as far as compensation, they'll probably turn to USPS for that $100 insurance. You can ask about replacing it, but something tells me that won't happen, even if they do have them. Your can argue it with them, maybe they'll cave, but I doubt it.

Jovanni Jamison-Lewis, 35, of Mastic Beach, a former clerk at the Oakdale Post Office, was arrested on November 24, 2025, for stealing gift cards and greeting cards from the mail. Caught on surveillance, she reportedly took items from envelopes, including a TJ Maxx gift card in a sting operation, and was found with stolen mail in her possession upon arrest.
Key Details of the Investigation:
Method: Jamison-Lewis allegedly targeted holiday cards, opening them, stealing the contents (gift cards and lottery tickets), and re-sealing or returning the empty envelopes.
Sting Operation: An undercover investigator with the Suffolk County District Attorney's office mailed a gift card, which was subsequently stolen and used by the suspect at a TJ Maxx.
Discovery: Upon her arrest, police found stolen mail in her pants and purse. A subsequent search of her car and home yielded 19 more stolen items.
Charges & Resignation: She is charged with grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property, petit larceny, and official misconduct. She resigned from the USPS on December 1, 2025.
Potential Sentence: If convicted, she faces up to four years in prison.
The investigation was conducted by the Suffolk County District Attorney's office and the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General.

Hello Gilly, I appreciate your time and efforts,

I saw the postal worker place My package in My mailbox. No One could of done this as I watched.

Also I contacted the USPS Postal Inspection Service, Was told in My in person visit to the local Post Office, Told them also the story, at the end of that conversation the Inspections service worker suggested that Since this has happened Before, He's submitting the forms, However After all said, He stated Oh, You'll have to contact the U S Mint.

I believe Greasy Fingers is correct, Most likely, Here's your refund, being I am told it's insured for $100.00.

As clearly noted by Greasy Fingers, No One Cares....

Gilly, I apologize for not realizing there are questions You asked, Hope this comment helps, Being they placed an insurance on the package, I Should get my refund.

As far as the Local post Office, They must have things in place that once a report has been escalated, They call and leave messages to be " Sure " I am being taken care of,

I had a coin mis-delivered and who ever got it kept it.

Trying to collect the insurance was incredibly hard because all they see on the claim is the package was scanned delivered.

I finally got the insurance claim paid but had to make several trips to the Post Office.

This was an ebay purchase. Far as they are concerned the seller is off the hook when a package is scanned delivered. .

Not sure how it would work USM to USPS.
