johnny54321 Rest in Peace United States 4849 Posts	Posted 07/10/2009 5:13 pm Thanks for the comments! Yes, it does have hairlines, but they are tough to notice unless looking at it really carefully. ANACS gave it a PF-61, and I think it's a beautiful example for the grade. Ithas a reverse cameo too. At this grade, they really aren't much more expensive than their MS counterparts. I paid $270 for it, which is about what an MS-63 to 64 would cost. It's the only proof I have in my type set, and the only early proof I own. It's also officially the lowest mintage coin I own. :-) Report this Post to the Staff

At 1100 coins minted it's the second highest mintage of proofs for Seated dimes. But I'd hardly call anything with a mintage of 1,100 "common" . I always thought it amusing that you could score a proof like this for so little money with a tiny mintage, but a 1909-S VDB, mintage 484,000 is so darned expensive. If these early proofs ever have anywhere near that kind of demand, I'm sure they will skyrocket! (yes, I know, wishful thinking). Based on those I was thinking PR-64 with cameo reverse. In fact, the "milk spot" in the right obverse field appeared to be the main grade-limiting factor. The second set (your photos?) reveals the hairlines but I agree PR-61 seems a bit low. This coin has more eye appeal than would be suggested by that grade. Report this Post to the Staff
