We all know the cream rises to the top.
Everybody loves bright and shiny.
After searching 20 rolls of pennies and every bin, bucket, or bank around the house for change, it's time to let the dregs have their moment in the sun. At least before you drop them in the till at the drive through for the Ronald McDonald house.

oh jeez... once I opened a roll with 5 pennies stuck together with chewing gum that still smelled fresh. I was lucky that I had gloves.

I have several mint bags of wheaties that are in similar shape. Like everyone else, while sorting I pluck my culls and greenies first. They go in a special sort of graveyard that has developed over the years into a horde of itself.

I have no idea what the years or mints, I just pluck them first when going through a collection or large group. I know myself and I try to avoid the pitfall of falling in love with a coin that is in such disrepair.

Was thinking of building a set of greenie wheaties but it would just kill me on the inside to wade through them for the keys. I know that they probably are in there but actually plucking and seeing a 14d or 22 plain completly green would forever haunt a person.

I dont know what to actually do with them, so the colleciton just grows. If you really want a pic, I will drag them out next week and take some pictures but I assure you, it is grusome and NOT something any collector actually enjoys seeing.

Yes...of course...pictures.
Lets show off both ends of the spectrum and lets see the....Glory...? of the bottom of the barrel
I have a wedding album from the table cameras, it shows nothing but floor, ceiling, and blurry whatever they ares.
Why not? We all love the good stuff, why not show at least some appreciation for the not so good stuff?
Rest in Peace

I'd post my green collection, too, but ... well ... it's just as depressing as mrwisker's and looks pretty much the same. Yeah, viva la dreck!

Hmmm, I just put a grip of tokens and coins in 2x2s. I just throw the culls in a box. Then the grandkids spread them around....

but I got it back, mostly.

I have an SVBD I actually pulled from circulation of all places. It is beaten down, in AG/G at best but you can read the date and see both the MM and the initials so it works. Haha actually you need a loop to see it but its there.

It has become one of my favorite coins. I can still remmeber finding it.

It was one of those moments where you really miss having friends into coins. For WEEKS I was sharing it with co-workers, friends and family that really just couldn't care less and didnt see what the big deal was.

You roll hunters new to the hobby just wait until you have a great find and no one cares. HAhaha it is a very strange feeling.

The non-collectors dont care, and the collectors dont believe you. You are stuck with your exitement all bottled to yourself.

Great post! You also have a great idea with the charity donations. If we all drop our culls into a charity donation the people on this forum would probably donate thousands of dollars a week to charity.

The downside of living in a coastal area is that the first picture represents the "cruppence" I collect from the average box of pennehs

(Believe it or not, as I was typing this message I pulled up a couple of rolls, and the coin on the end of one had a hole eaten right through the center!)

If I get around to doing some coin photos tonite i'll do one of my "made the coin counter say ewwwwww and spit it out" collection.
