My answer to this is two-pronged - my unobtainable Dream Coin, and one I stand a chance of owning some day. First, the 1896-S MS69 Jack Lee Morgan: I have little use for proofs - you expect them to be nicely kept. But this - this was a coin which left the mint in a bag, and was destined for circulation, until some Diety intervened and ensured that it survive to this day in pristine condition. For me, this is The Coin. On a more realistic note, the 1921D VAM 1X: There are only two known right now. However, there's no telling whether I might run across one at a yard sale someday, and that's part of what keeps me collecting.

Well, the warm-fuzzy answer would be "whichever coin I buy next"! The never-in-my-wildest-dreams answer is either the 1893-S Morgan or the 1895 Proof Morgan. Don't tell me you guys expected something else out of me! Rachel [:p]

Me, I don't have A dream coin, though I would like to have a beautiful full collection of Walkers, every year, every mint. Maybe I can start purchasing a couple of Walkers by the end of the year. By the way can anyone recommend a really good book on the history of U.S. coins with lots of pics? Good Luck In The Contest Y'All! Hold on to your Lucky Coin!!

You know I have often wondered how much money it would take to make him relinquish ownership of this coin, we all know the 7 million + dollars he got for 98% of his collection wasnt enough

1878-CC Morgan in a really high mint state. Even though this coin isn't outrageously expensive in MS-60, prices get crazy when you look at MS-64 and MS-65.

Maybe a 1796-97 draped bust, small eagle half. This is the "key" to a type set and probably one I'll never get close to...

I'll go for a ms 1792 Half Disme or a nice 1838-O half.

What A Steal!!!! Wonder who bought the beauty
Aint it amazing how 1 man can aquire so many Beautiful coins in his lifetime
Ask him yourself. He posts over at CU. Either that, or it's another Jack Lee with an encyclopedic knowledge of coins. He's among my competition (well, I'm not exactly playing in his league, but I like to think so) for 1921 VAMs, as that's his current concentration.

I have never visited CU but may have to check it out, I am the only morgan collector that hasn't caught the 1921 bug yet I think but seeing all the different vams they have to offer has really started to catch my eye. Maybe when I am finished with this 1878 stuff the 1921's will be next but if I were to collect all the VAM's of 1878, I have years of collecting to do before I move on to something new
