Oh heck, I didn't know that you could blow up the picture just by clicking on it.

So, if the obverse is indeed that of 82, what about the reverse Gene? Can you match it?

Its hard to see his die cracks from the photo's provided, but I can see them, so instead of enlarging his photo's. I will post the appropriate cracks that they can confirm....

1878-Morgan,-What-Do-I-Got...note also the die cracks are finger prints....the die cracks from the wing to the "S" in states and also the die cracks from the the S to the T in states are conclusive...

Okay then.... Dancing fruit for Gene.... but just a few, (because you have only answered half of the OP's riddle, and are not done yet buddy)

Now for the most important thing about this alleged vam-82....

The fields are just to chattery for me to believe it's a Mint State coin. Very little wear, though; we'll call it AU55-58. As such, it doesn't have a lot of added value for the VAM because they're available in Mint State and that's what the collectors are looking for.

I wasn't worried about the value, I wanted to know what you guys think I should have paid for it. Sorry if that wasn't clear. I bought it as a 1878 7TF Morgan. My coin guy doesn't really look at varieties.

I first thought it could be a VAM-86 from the "D" and the disconnected leaves (I guess I want to see good pictures of one of these so badly I am starting to overlook things), but after looking again I see the full nostril and VAM-82 is the Only B1 Reverse to have a full nostril

oh man I am going to have to leave that one up to someone else because I am not sure what a lightly circulated VAM-82 would sell for. I do know that VAM-82 is one of the ones that when ever people see its a VAM-82 they usually pay a small premium for it
