hmm...I only know what it is...not what it's worth. Given the little private bidding war between myself and 'liveanddievarieties' I would say probably in excess of $10. Maybe $20, but that's a sheer guess.

My indicator is that I would gladly pay $10 for it, which means that's probably not enough.

well believe me I was pretty surprised by the $10 offer. But like I've said I'll probably just hang onto it for a while. I am fairly new to coin collecting and would like to see what all I can aquire before I have to start deciding what to sell off....

Realistically 50 dollars. I'm an error collector I'm pretty firmiliar with values as far as errors goes. If you put that coin on ebay starting at 30 dollars I wouldnt be surprised if it surpassed 50.

If you were to offer the coin to someone who specializes in errors, you could expect $10-15. If you listed it for sale on ebay, it could fetch $15-25, but maybe less. Dealers often can pay more than what you'll end up with on ebay because they have customers seeking certain errors or varieties and it's very easy to find a home for some coins. The coin won't pay for a vacation, but maybe a couple hours off work!

After typing the above- I read the earlier posts I had missed-

CudWild- I've gotta ask, if you were so sure it was something else, what gives you the authority to be spouting about market values? If you think this error is worth $50, I've got a heck of a deal for you- you can buy any of the several I have in my inventory for $20 off of your value, this will leave you a huge profit margin- whaddaya say?

KoinKid- when the time comes that you may want to part with the coin- contact reputable error coin dealers who will give you a fair and honest offer. Taking advice from people who get all of their information off what they think they might have seen on the internet at one time....all I'm saying is if you want to know about beef, don't ask a vegetarian.

Ok whatever. Coin dealers also pay less than what the coin is worth to make a profit for themselves. And another thing error dealers never give you the correct value of the coins they always go under value incase you decide to sell it.
One other thing if you dont believe me on what your coin is worth then look it up yourself on what they are going for. A coin is never worth what books or people say but what people pay.

LIVEANDIEVARIETY: I'm very firmiliar with split planchets. Like I said to coppercoins photos can be decieving. I thought I saw something that wasnt there but I knew if I was wrong on what I saw he had a good find. I gave him honest and accurate info on what they go usually for. The 50 is a good accurate value for that coin. The low end value of this coin is around 35 the high end around 60. I guess the only downfall is theres very limited collectors of certain errors so I admit you might have to put it on ebay a few times till the right buyer sees it.

So until you're ready to put your own money where your mouth is, how can you actually say what people will pay. You can't just assign a value to something based on nothing and say that anyone not paying that value is not paying what it's worth.

There IS only one value- and that is decided by the person willing to pay. Until you are that person, and have been that person many hundreds of times, I don't think you have any kind of perspective on value at all.

I'm sorry, I guess that all sounds really harsh. here's a smile
It just seems that you have opinions on everything, but do you have real experience with anything?

Now youre just making me angry now. You dont even collect error coins you only collect die varieties. I gave him honest info on what they usually go for around. I'm not on here to get insulted by a wanna be know it all. I'm on here like everyone else to help and learn.

Lets just drop it. The best way to learn on here is by giving opinions. You learn quicker that way. I'm a very opinionated person who at times will be wrong like everyone of us on here.

You're confusing me with coppercoins- I don't collect anything. I buy and sell these pieces for a living. It's my sole means of income.

Best way to learn here is by reading and understanding what pieces of information knowledgeable forum members share.

I don't learn anything by giving opinions, neither does anyone else. People learn when they come to understand fact.
FACT- There is only one way that each specific error type and die variety is created.
FACT- It's difficult for your words to carry weight when you go back and edit them to say something else after someone has responded to your post. (yes, I edit my posts, but for the purposes of clarity only)
FACT- Some people will learn by being members here, some will be too busy sharing opinions.
FACT- NONE of this should make you angry- if you were here to learn, you would (learn). You're arguing and muddying the water for those who are seeking truth and clarity on coins.

I've said my piece and am putting this baby to bed. G'night everybody!
