Yuck....I can't stand colorized coins! EDIT - One exception, I like my Benen pot coin, it's pretty cool and it smells like pot too. LOL

Bimetallic is a whole different thing as opposed to painted or printed or crap on coins.

I agree, but I do not know that coin, so I do not know if it is bimetallic or coloured gold.

Considering the color doesn't go all the way through the coin, the chances are very good that it is selectively gold plated.

If they colorize anything let it be the commemorative coin. keep the tradition of U.S. coins the same. Next thing will be a "Paint by number" Proof Set.

WOW ! That is a beautiful coin there from........... Kazakhstan ? ... I bet Condor is right......that it's "layered" in Gold or something, since it isn't showing on the reverse. I get all I know about Kazakhstan from this person......... I, even further, marvel at the sight of this coin, while thinking of the Govt. and economy of this country being able to do anything like this ! Must have cost at least 250 goats to make this coin ! ...... ..

Colored coins are not coins... They are trash and deserve to be thrown away.

After further research, I checked to see if it was bi-metal and it is gilded. Definition of guiled; "1: to overlay with or as if with a thin covering of gold." Would this count as bi-metal, seen as how it is a covering? The original article I found this in, I can't find again, didn't mention this. But I did find this, http://eurocollections.com/store/pr....asp?id=5807

Being Canadian I did not vote. I don't want to skew the results.
Some of the colourized coins do look cheap, but they are intended to catch the attention and bring to mind a certain topic. They work in that respect. I think the ones meant for circulation do look rather cheap up close, but do not look so bad at an arms length.
Interesting note, the olympic coloured circulation coins were painted by the mint. the one that were sold in the sets were painted by a third party. Technically, since the painting was done outside of the mint, the sets ARE post mint damage.
