Last week my buddies Mike, Rick and I made our second annual overnight detecting trip to a Bible camp in southern Wisconsin. The camp was founded in 1944 on some older property along a beautiful lake.
I have hunted the camp since 2016 and have always had good luck. When the three of us went last year we found 206 coins including five silvers and an old silver bracelet.
We topped that this year. In our two days we dug up 225 coins. Among these were ten silver coins, about 25 Wheaties and two silver rings.
The second day was my best ever and my first four silver day. I found three Roosevelts, and on the last signal of the trip just before we had to leave, a nice 1952-D
Washington quarter in a wooded area.
Mike was the top detectorist finding six silver coins (four Roosevelts and two
Mercury dimes) along with two nice silver rings. He also detected the water at the swimming beach. There he found three of his silver coins, all of them in horrible condition after swirling around in the sand for 60-80 years. They really took a beating. He thought the 1940 Mercury was a corroded zinc cent when he found it.
Here are photos of some of the best finds. The camp has invited us back next year.
