I recently bought a lot of 10 large cents off ebay; nothing special all AG-VG common dates. I paid $60 which makes it $6 per coin. That made me wonder, what is a good target price for large cents for someone purely wanting volume of the beautiful classic coins? Thanks! Edited by CKcollectibles2 07/28/2026 4:54 pm

In 2026, $6 per large cent sounds like a pretty good deal to me on AG to VG large cents. Can you get more at that price?

That is a pretty decent deal!
Locally, the only bulk I've seen has been 10x P to AG's for $25... which was still tempting, but I did pass (most were complete slicks).

Curious what $6 each buys you condition wise.

Back in the day, I used to buy Large Cent lots off ebay. I think 15-20 years ago, $5 a coin was the going price. So $6 today is probably a good deal. You'll get some absolute junk culls, but every now and then, you'll come up with a decent coin or two. It's difficult to find an undamaged Large Cent for less than $25 at a coin show. Good luck & happy hunting.

I can't get more at that price, it was an auction. I will work on sending some pics later today. I'll definitely be on the lookout for more around that price, I think I currently have 35 large cents and they are one of my all time favorite coins!

I started with wheat cents, then to Indian Head cents, and finally onto Large cents. I'm a big fan of copper! Happy hunting.

I too enjoy buying lots of large cents, and $6 per coin is very low, in general I find you can only get serious "problem" coins at that price. For coins that might have a chance at a straight grade it's more like $15+.

I was able to buy 59 more large cents today in a dansco album for $575. This works out to just under $10 per coin but the empty Dansco album sells for over $150. I will be sending pics of everything when it comes in the mail

Sounds like you've got the Large Cent bug. Just a heads up, it's one of the most difficult book sets I've ever attempted. Too many varieties to count & even more difficult to decipher. Good luck & post some pictures of your adventure.

Im not planning on attempting a full set, at least yet . I will probably end up selling the album on ebay, or if anyone on the forum wants it, you can direct message me.

used to be able to find decent large cents cheaper 10 or 15 years ago on e-bay. The only ones I see on there at the prices you talk about are culls that are in pretty bad shape. Decent coins with honest wear and no major issues in the ag to vg range are $15 to $20 now.
