This weekend I decided to see how many dates were in my collection of United States coinage. It took over 20 hours to dig through and catalog the coins and was able to get from 1792 to 1900 in early Monday morning. From 1792 to 1900, it seems like I am missing three (3) dates: 1869, 1871 and 1873. These aren't particularly difficult dates to find, so I think I will take my time filling those holes. Because there are 109 coins between 1792 and 1900, I decided not to post all of them here but created a dedicated page on my website where you can see larger pictures of all the coins in the collection and I can have a little more flexibility making future changes. Please disregard the prices as they are not market prices, but rather what it would take for someone to pry my babies from my clenched hands. Very impressive! I actually went through mine a while back checking the same thing, although I wasn't counting 1792 at the time. Including that I'm missing four, 1792, 1799 1806, and 1815. 1792 isn't going to happen, but the rest might.

Thanks for your kind comments. I am working through 1901-1945 and I think it is up in sequence to 1916 now. There were some random ones already on the site and I just enabled them to this page. The ones not already there, I had to find, crop and upload the pictures alongside all of the listing/post information which seems endless for each coin. Hopefully I have it all up to date to 1945, and may do a little further into the mid-20th century. I don't really collect moderns, so I won't be able to reach too far into the 20th.

Updated the set to 1946. As I was going through the 20th century, I found that I was missing two dates, 1933 and 1940. I knew it wasn't likely that I had a coin dated 1933 because only Lincoln cents and half dollars were issued that year in the depths of the Depression with a handful of double eagles that are among the rarest coins in numismatics. 1940 was unexpected, but I suppose I never sought out a coin of that date. I think I may have a walker rolling around somewhere sporting that date. It looks like I have 150 out of 155 coins in this set, missing 1869, 1871, 1873, 1933 and 1940. I will take my time and finish the set gingerly as I pick through to find the needed coins. Good luck to all in reaching your numismatic goals.

Just reflecting that our nation has gone through a lot from 1792 to 1946. All along, coinage has played an important role in these developments, but we seem to be at the end of and era with digitization. The days of carting your wealth in wheelbarrows appears to be over, but those gold bars sure seem to fly off the shelves at Costco though.

Love the set. I was a little confused as I thought you were doing a type set of each coin, but you are doing a coin per year. Very nice. Love some of the early ones, congrats on a Half Disme. If you ever want to adopt someone, I'll gladly volunteer and take care of your collection ;)
