Here is a decent one of the obverse on the reverse,on a nice MS-63RB; 1947 seems to be a particularly good year for die clashes. Still hunting for a nice one in a mint-state red. Nice one there!
A query SPP......
How many cents to you go through in the course of say a week or a month looking for all these things? I look through quite a lot of things and I don't find very much interesting stuff..... You must look at an awful lot of cents.

Quote: How many cents to you go through in the course of say a week or a month looking for all these things? Probably too many... while, like you, I love 100% red MS-66 small Canadian cents, aside from my 1923 gem, I don't have the financial flexibility to purchase the expense George V keys coins as quickly as you have (I remember when you embarked upon that series, and I thought, crap, another gem small cent collector in Ontario!). So, to keep my mind into the hobby and my grading skills sharp, I like buying bulk lots, especially from the US. I have documented some major varieties that even Hans Zoell missed, I guess it is the thrill of discovery. Most "varieties" (which includes MDD, die clashes or mortar sets) I find in circulated condition. Once I know of a variety, then I buy the mint BU rolls, which can be challenge for some years. I had to buy 4 rolls of BU 1939 coins to get a 1939 with the doubled 39 in MS-64 red. I was lucky and hit a 1952, doubled 952 (graded MS-65) in my first mint roll of that date (see photo). I also love searching BU (original) rolls, for all other denominations. Going through some nickel 50c rolls now, from the early 1970s... I should state, once again (for the sake of a certain book publisher in California), that these images are my intellectual property, and are not to be used without my written permission.

Wow that's quite a coin! For sure the nicest I've seen on a George VI coin. Like West Canuk, I wonder if there's anything on the other side?

I took about 20 pictures trying to get a good image of this coin but this is the best I could do due to the holder.... It is a much more disctinct clash in hand than in a photo. There are no signs I can see on the obverse. Not up to SPP's standard for red though...... I mentioned this coin in another post a week or two back. ICCS did not mention the clash when they certified it.

FYI - CCCS will comment on die clashes, if so inclined.

Picked this one up today.....quite pleased. The reverse unfortunately has some toning as you can see but the obverse is lovely.

Here is another one, from 1942. The grade is not as nice, EF-40 with trace lustre, but the clash is pretty darn strong, on both sides of the coin. You can see elements of the obverse in several places, including the forehead and nose inside the right leaf. The ear clash is seen above the main maple leaf stem. You can see maple leaf tips from the chin all the way around to the back of the head. The maple leaf stem can be seen below the ear, and the 'hearing aid' inside the ear (relatively scarce on a bronze strike).

V nice. Funny how sometimes the line under cent is strongest, sometimes the moon under the leaf, sometimes the hanging 4. Obviously the mint was not using six sigma equipment!

I have a 1 cent where the 5 and 2 I think ( I forget what numbers in the date it is) but the numbers have an imprint on them. Ill take pictures later because I have to go to school.

Picked up this two sided die clash. Sorry the photos aren't better but it is the best I can do. The clash marks on the obverse side are more clear in hand. Quote:
