I'll have to wait for the mailman.. To know if I did right.. but I'm a bit exited

I Think I bought probably a nice Spanish 1808 coin counterstamped with a "chinese" something.. That was the description.. The pictures are off-focus but somebody is taking apart a collection, because the dude had another 50 coin advertisements.. That's why I trust the blurry pics..
Can't wait to take a look at it..

I would be very interested in seeing a clear picture of the coin. The rest of the group looks like worn common silver which makes me wonder how the owner interpreted this coin.

That piece in question is a Spain 2 Reales... The C/M might very well be the sometimes encountered (on this series) Cuba stamp... one that only caught part of the stamp. Worth USD $40 or so... I'm guessing you paid scrap price or close for these (aside from that piece, typical bulk silver minors)... so, good pickup.

I believe Realeswatcher called it right--a Spanish 2 reales. The mint is probably discernable to an expert. It must be a disappointment that the "counterstamps" appear to be run-of-the-mill chopmarks. I like to take gambles of this sort, too, so don't be disappointed.

I think you can just make out the assayer initials here as CN - that would correlate to the Madrid mint.

I agree the chops are generic and late. The smaller the chop the earlier it usually dates.

Well, definitely NOT Cuba! :-> Still a bit more interesting than a common Spain 2R.
