Thanks

I think just about any Large cent is worth $29.50 and your example doesn't look to bad in my opinion so I think you did well on it

You got a pretty good level of detail for that price. I think you did fine.

I'm not that great at grading coins but matching it up to PhotoGrade, I think it can pass for a G4. NumisMedia has the G4 listed at $68. So I thought it was too good to pass up. I would love for the experts to chime in & correct me if I'm wrong or tell me if I'm right. =)

Based on Photograde, I'd say this easily makes G-4 details, which Numismedia lists for $68. The marks on the reverse knock the value down a bit, but I think not bad at all for $30!

Thanks guys. CCF always reassures me when I make a new purchase. I think I'm getting the hang of grading and pricing these coins. =)

I love those early coppers. Very nice pickup. I think this is probably an S-267, which is the most common of the 3 1805 varieties.

G-6 with minor problems, pretty good price considering the competition on these on ebay.

I think I got it for that price because it was listed under US Coin> Two Cents. So people looking for Draped Bust Cents didn't see this one. I actually found it on accident.

Nice pick LTMets44! Wrong listings are a great way to get a good deal. You may not be the only person to see it, but a lot fewer people wanting Large Cents are going to see that when it is under 2 cents! I picked up a 1824 large cent a few weeks ago that was listed under Canadian coins and as a 1891 large cent!

Thanks Saruma, That's exactly what I thought went I saw it in the wrong listing. I figured it would cut down at least 50% of the people looking for Drapped Busts. Now to find a Classic Head large Cent in the wrong listing...lol

Where can I learn more about varieties of coins? I saw a listing of the different varieties but can't find pictures of examples. Thanks for pointing out that it is a S-267 Condor101 & StJoeBlues. =)

You want to see all the varieties go here for the early dates The Dan Holmes collection
http://images.goldbergauctions.com/...ng=1&sale=54

and here for the middle dates
http://images.goldbergauctions.com/...ng=1&sale=59

If you want the late dates here is that sale, but you really can't tell them apart from the photos. The differences in the varieties tend to be very small and just don't show up in photos. The Holmes collection was missing only two varieties 1793 NC-5 which is unique and in the ANS collection, and 1851 N-42 which is unique and in a private collection. The 1793 NC-5 is pictured in the catalog though, it was loaned by the ANS for imaging so all of the early dates could be shown.
