Something strikes me about this coin as being a counterfeit. Not a faked error on a real coin, an altogether fake piece. The details just don't look right to me.

I also strongly suspect that the second strike was delivered by a pair of counterfeit dies. The appearance is all wrong, especially the texture seen in the "slide zone" on the obverse face. This time period produced a bumper crop of high-quality counterfeits.
