Folks, what do you think of this?

1921-Lincoln-Penny

Notice the area on the bottom of the coin. At first I thought the coin had "peeled" due to a strike on its edge.

Now I'm not so sure.

Anyone know what the technical term for this is?

I'm pretty sure it's a lamination error.
Rest in Peace

The metal appears, as you suggest, to have peeled and I believe that is something that is always a result of PMD. But I could be wrong -- so I will check back to see what the experts say.

I did look up lamination but there's nothing compares to experience.

Looks like a lamination with some movement after being struck. Not PMD in the sence of being altered. But the lamination is starting to peel.

Well, what do you know? There's actually a Glossary section on this forum.
