I found this morgan in a bag of Ikes. The reverse makes me wonder if this coin is real. Especially the mint mark. The coin on the left is the one I found compared to another 1880-S out of my collection.

It's kind of hard to tell with the picture, but I'm not seeing anything wrong with it. Neat find in a bag of IKE's.

Awesome! Looks real to me. I have luck, but not Morgan luck!

It's the mint mark for sure that is really bothering me. Maybe this is a different VAM variety? I am by no means a Morgan dollar expert. Here are some better shots: Reference coin from my collection:

You have two very nice cartwheels! I don't see anything wrong with the coin that you are referencing. If you go to vamworld, this coin is found with a medium and large S. http://www.vamworld.com/1880-S+VAMs

Their probably are different die varieties of the mint marks. Well try putting a magnet to it, if it doesn't stick to it, it's probably a real one. Is there a weight difference that you feel between the two, they should both weigh 26.73g.

Almost looks like the S on the top pic is lower than the other, bigger too. I'm no expert eithre but perhaps it was minted from a diferent die. Still looks legit to me. I'd say nice find in a bag of Ikes's, Wish I had that kind of luck.

I have gone through tons of bags of Ikes and trust me this is a rarity! I am lucky if I find 1-40% Ike per bag!
I did the magnet test and neither coin is magnetic. I do have a postal scale but it's only does 2 gram increments. Both coins weigh 28g per my scale.

Awesome find! Most importantly, how the heck are you getting bags of Ikes?

Yup, 1880 S Morgans had two different size mint marks. Nice score from a bag of Ikes!

Very cool find~! and yes where are you getting bags of Ikes from. Sounds like a cool new thing for me to search in. back in the early to mid 80's I used to go through 60-90 dollars of lincoln rolls to find wheat pennies. Congrats on your find. Not a bad grading coin either.
