Don't have my camera handy, so I hope to photograph these later.

Just before silver jumped last week I picked up a lot of silver halves and 5 American Silver Eagles. I filled some more holes in my collections

Silver Eagles were BU, filled:
2001, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2009. Bringing my unique US collection to 1,913 pieces. ASE's 62% done

Halves came in today, filled:
Barbers:
1901 O, 1901 S, 1902 S, 1904 O, 1905 S
Barbers 74% done

Walkers:
1916 D, 1916 S just over melt!
These brought my unique pieces to 1,920.
Walkers 97% done. (only 2 left to go!)

Also, to my 7070, a Columbian Commemorative Half. 1,921 coins.
US Type 91% done (7 left to fill)

Good luck with the Walking halves collection. The only sets I almost completed is my Roosevelt dimes (only need 1951 S and 1983 P) Mercury dimes (only need 1916 D, 1921, and 1921 S) and my Standing Liberty quarters (only need 1916, 1919 S , and 1923 S)

The higher the silver content these days, the pricier it seems to finish a set, even the commom dates.

Do you have the 1892-O Barber Half yet? I have this one enroute that I have no intentions of keeping long term. It's not real high grade, but it's still the key to the set.

I'll be happy to do that. I am working on my Dansco 7070, so if I can find a coin that comes in at a price where I can cut you a good deal on it, and fill a slot in my set....we'll do something. I know what sellers are asking, and I can also see what they're actually getting.

Happy to talk to you about it.

PM sent ...

1892-O is the key to the Barber half set....

I have assembled the entire set, the keys are 1913, 1914 and 1915. The 1896-S cost more than the three key dates
combined. My 1892-O was not that an expensive of a coin to
acquire. Maybe I am missing something in translation or your intention....

I know Barber Half series has multiple 'keys', some for low mintage, some for high demand (cost). One of the cases where low mintage isn't quite aligned with the highest demand. So technically there isn't a clear key. Just a few tough ones to acquire.

In the past, the 92-O has been regarded as the Primary key, and the late date philly coins semi keys, along with 01-S and 04-S, and a few others. It's interesting that, of the 13, 14, and 15 philly coins, the lowest mintage issue, is not the most expensive. Simply a function of demand.

My intention is pretty easy to understand. I'd like to trade a coin I paid way under market for (that I neither need nor want)....for something closer to the actual value of the 92-O, that will fit into my Type set. I may find something thats only half the value of the 92-O that will make me plenty happy, and my trade partner equally so.

Don't know what that is in the picture, but I tried photographing it to replicate it ... and there's "somethig" there, but I can't make an "O" out of it.

Bummer .... I wouldn't even think of trying to trade or sell this as a New Orleans minted coin. Win some ... lose some.

Chance, I have my doubts as to your enroute coin actually being an "O"...

Here's my 1892 O & S for comparison. (Not great examples, but...) Thoughts?

Yeah, I know ... but you're late to the party. I already discovered that. Read a couple posts above yours. I have an overpriced philly minted coin. I stuck it in the tube with my other commons.

I actually do come out ahead sometimes.....not this time though. The cost of education...

Almost looks to me like a Cud, die break that goes from the tip of the 'A' in HALF to the first 'L' in DOLLAR.

(Of course Moe has a 1892-O )
