I like to keep them raw, at least for a while, so I can enjoy stacking them and arranging them in piles. Is this weird? Report this Post to the Staff
jpbone Pillar of the Community United States 1959 Posts	Posted 07/13/2013 8:36 pm Newmismatist, I think it is perfectly normal behavior. :) In my house, with two boys collecting and myself, there are piles resembling that pile in at least two places as we speak. My wife says to clean up the mess. I leave it because to me it is pure beauty and I enjoy having them literally piled up! I call it coins in the wild. Free from 2x2's or slabs. Free to frolick with their friends just like the good old days! Lets face it, us coin collectors are a little weird. Report this Post to the Staff

I buy a lot of circulated silver coins (almost all non-US, sorry), & many of them are kept in a big satin bag with drawstrings. Maybe they pick up a little bag wear, but I love to pick it up & start pulling out... oh, Dutch five-cent piece, how tiny... oh, that medallic Luxembourg sixty francs... oh, Denmark two kroner with a head on each side... you get the idea! acloco Pillar of the Community United States 3540 Posts	Posted 07/13/2013 11:07 pm Because I was skunked on the coin side of the collecting life, I did buy a larger box to house coins in TPG slabs (specifically for 1909 to 1958) Lincoln cents. Also purchased some Leuchtturm Quadrum 19 mm square coin capsules to house my non slabbed Lincoln cents as well. And...to round things off, purchased 30 square tubes to start sorting by date/mintmark the bag or so of Wheats collected over the years. Report this Post to the Staff
Darth Morgan Pillar of the Community United States 2815 Posts	Posted 07/15/2013 09:54 am Newmismatist- I do the same exact thing- stacking, piling, rearranging. It's sort of like an OCD thing for me. However, I do this activity with a couple of rolls of replica Morgan and Draped Bust dollars. This way, I don't have to use my real silver dollars. I think it is in fantastic condition too. I am highly considering sending it in to be graded and slabbed.
