There are just some coins you want to buy even if they might be overpriced due to conditions. I sure would like to get some of the very early silver dollars, but only in decent condition. I might not be able to fill a set of Draped Bust Dollars but I could buy a few. Same for Flowing Hair dollars. I would rather have a few in above average condition than have more in AG condition. I have seen some really beautiful early American coins here. It is inspiring.

I love hitting the bullion / junk seller tables on a Sunday when they're starting to pack up. In this case, I asked if there had been many people selling off, and got a "yes", so I asked to look at the fresher "trade-ins" and was rewarded with some AU+ Morgans (and two MS), and then from the junk silver boxes: a very worn but semi-key Barber quarter, several better date Walkers, and surprisingly, a decent Good 1829 Bust Dime & Good 1873 Liberty Seated half dime. Today's silver Half Dimes: 1873 no arrows Dimes: 1829 Quarters: 1892, 1894-S, 1899, 1900, 1901 x2, 1903-O, 1906-D, 1908-O, 1911, 1915-D Halves: 1917, 1927-S, 1929-S, 1935, 1936, 1936-D, 1939-D Dollars: 1878 (SAF), 1878-S, 1880-O x2, 1887-O x3, 1897, 1897-S, 1903-S (!!), 1904   Member ANA - EAC - TNA - SSDC - CCT #890 "Most of the things worth doing in the world had been declared impossible before they were done." -- Louis D. Gambling for $4.95 vs. this 1839 (?) large cent...might be worth the $5, might not. A contender for "worst picture" (no reverse provided, .. scary!) Stopped in a "We Buy Gold" type of establishment. Not much selection and prices were kind of high on their older type coins but these silver dollars were attractively priced in my opinion. Probably should have purchased more.  |

What were they selling for cashwise? If you bought them for a few bucks over spot you did really well. I might try one of those places because the coin shops are high priced. I need some Morgans in decent condition to finish off my set. After that deed I may rest on the 7th day. I have about 5 complete sets mostly 20th century and a couple that lack just one coin.
