Just purchased a 1916 Merc Dime ! Biggest purchase of my life so far, being 17 and having this coin will really continue to spark my interest! It will be shipped Monday, and I will post pictures. I'm so excited I needed to post. Ryan

Very cool! Where did you purchase it. Slabbed? Graded?

Congratulations. As you well know, this coin is highly counterfeited so I hope you purchased it from a reputable dealer. when you get it. What grade?

It is graded a G4 and it is already slabbed from PGC, I bought it from an auction. However it is an older slab it seems so I will be taking it out and submitting it to PCGS (I feel better with PCGS). Very Awesome Coin!

"PGC?" Never heard of them. I would be quite worried about buying a key coin from an unknown grader.

I agree w/ Dave - I'd be really worried if I bought a key coin from anyone other than the top 3 TPG's. I hope you did mean NGC.

Whoops mental error, ASA (Accugrade) I believe. It has a 30 day return policy so I will be going to a dealer. The holder is an old holder and is from an estate sale. I will definately be sending to pcgs. You guys can also help me grade, wont have the coin for awhile though. From what research I've been doing it looks perfectly legit. I bought it from the american auction network. I hope I didn't scare anyone since I bought it from them.

Sorry to post again so soon, I have been reading about how ASA isn't good at detecting false coins/mintmarks. I might of made the biggest mistake of my life, shows how ignorant I am...hopefully I am wrong.

Well, if they honor the 30 day return, then you should be fine. Post detailed pics here and have your dealer inspect it before deciding to keep it. Just make sure that it is NOT removed from the Accugrade holder, since that could void the return policy.

Just got done on the phone with them, no 30 day return. However, they are sending it in to PCGS for authentication, and for whatever reason if it comes back fake, I will receive a full refund and I got that in writing. They wanted to send it to NGC, but I had to go with PCGS. What a major relief off my shoulders. Thanks guys. Sorry to confuse many of you.

Accugrade, yikes! Yeah, only rely on PCGS,NGC,ANACS, or ICG.
