Since the 2010 piedfort was so popular, I was wondering if and when the 2011 would be available. Perhaps our friendly RCM rep. would know.

If anything it'd have to be a 2012, 2011 is almost over and we are already neck deep in 2012 RCM coins. I don't see a second piedfort making too big of a splash either. The "first" title will already have been taken, and unless the mintage is ultra low or price very reasonable, i'd hold off buying

Yeah, by the 1996 piedfort Twoonie!

>>> edit/info VVV & because too lazy to upload picture" Your 1996 Proof Silver $2 Piedfort marks the introduction of the bi-metallic $2 coin to this country. This is the first time that Royal Canadian Mint issues a piedfort. The $2 polar bear design, by artist Brent Townsend, graces the reverse. The obverse features a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Dora de Pedery-Hunt. "

^^^ & a nice piece.

Loved the 2010 piedfort SML so much, I bought 2 and the set. Also, it's why I chose the name Mrpiedfort.
If the RCM came out with another piedfort-style maple leaf, I'll be all over it.
My only other piedfort coin is the 2010 silver kangaroo, another beautiful coin with an ultra high relief.

A quick look on ebay shows most of them selling for at least $150.

my prediction is right, I think the set is overpriced, and I only bought the silver coin whenever I have a chance. now silver sold out long time ago, sets are still available at original price

Did we forget about the 2007 Piedfort $20 Swarovski Crystal Snowflake? That is a stunning coin as well!

Ahh I see. So the 2010 was marketed as the "first" piedfort silver maple as oppose to the first RCM piedfort period. Clever (or that I'm dumb..)

west- canuk, I've looked into this and I'm sorry to say that we don't have any plans for more Piedfort Coins in 2012. If you have a specific Piedfort idea for down the road, please send it to themes@mint.ca - Thanks!

Oh well guess the guys calling the shots didn't think they were as popular as I did, I don't have any ideas for future piedforts: liked the design, too bad there won't be a yearly series.

I think they decided to go with the wildlife bullion collection as an alternative to the piedfort thing. It just seemed kind of odd for the Mint to come out with a random piedfort coin, selling well, and then not making any more of them.

This coin might be better served coming out once every 4-5 years anyways.

would be cool if it was a 38mm 2 oz piedfort, as oppose to smaller diameter 1oz

RCM has minted some one-of-a-kind maple leaf coins in the past, the 1989 proof, and the 1998 10 oz coin. so this piedfort could be another sample
