The picture shows a music note on the reverse of the quarter as well as some texture changes that are both on the obverse and reverse. Any thoughts?

Looks like it was struck through a thin layer of grease, which seems to be more and more common lately. I can't really tell what the "music note" is though.

It is Struck Through Grease - not an error, just a low quality coin.

So it's Struck Through Grease shaped like a music note?

If it is a music note punched into the coin, it happened outside of the mint and is just damage. It's hard to tell how deep it is from yoour picture. If it's not very deep, it could just be Struck Through Grease, but it just happens to look like a music note by pure cooincidence.

No, it isn't very deep. I have not measured it but it would probably be about 1/16" deep or maybe a little less. I have looked at it what seems like 100 different ways and angles trying to find evidence that it was placed there by a punch or something but, the texture of the coin stays consistant.
