I sent a 1971-S Proof Eisenhower dollar to Dr. James Wiles, and, Variety Attributor for Coneca..I thought I had a rare DDO-O22...I was a bit shocked when I saw a new listing...especially since in the Wiles/Coneca files, there were only 26 Doubled Die 71 Proof IKES..the coin is at Anacs, having the First Reported Label put on it, and, will sit in my cherished Discovery Coin Album...these things feed my rather pathetic ego from time to time, and keep me hunting for more...here's the new Listing: ========================== 1971-S DDO-027 Designation: PR-27-O-I-CCW Description: Medium spread on date, IN GOD WE TRUST, and LIBERTY Grade: PR67 Population: 1 Markers: Silver Proof Obverse is ODV-006 (Peg Leg R) UVC-135 DMR-042 Stage A: Obverse is EDS Several parallel lathe marks between DO of DOLLAR -- EDS Stage B: MDS (unconfirmed) Stage C: LDS (unconfirmed) Reported by: Calvin Goddard
Here's the new Ike, just back from Anacs. I can't shoot individual notching with my poor quality microscope. Dr. Wiles may post some, if they do a write up on Coneca..I have to admit, I had this wrong, and thought it was the rare 71-S PF DDO-O22...wrong in a good way though.
