A couple years ago I had had a few coin dealers tell me that some "dealer' talk at coin shows has shown them sending a monster box of SAE's averaged 20% coming back perfect MS70s. I have had two dealers tell me they believe the TPGs just pick out a random 20 & sampling and label them. This intrigued me b/c the ONLY slabbed coin I ever bought was a 2010 ASE MS70 and it takes very little magnification to see a couple places where there is gouging on the letters of the coin!

One of those same dealers recently told me he gets/believes proof submissions for dealers yield about 40% PF70s and private collectors will get a 30-35% yield of perfect slabs.

I'd like to put this to a test. I think it might provide an interesting statistic for us to see what the actual percentage (fixed or not) is for the ASE Anniversary sets.

Would people who send in the new ASE 2011 25th Anniversary sets and who did send in the 2006 3-piece sets share their results?

To make it easy, just copy/paste the template below in to your post and fill it in (included numbers in the template are just for example). If you sent to more than one company, simply copy paste a template for each company you used. in your post, delete the names off of the template that are not applicable:

TPG Used: NGC PCGS ASA

I have your Template Copied into word,I Will Paste back when PCGS returns my coins or at least gets them posted in my Account Probably 3 weeks

Just a P.S. at the time I sent in My 2006 Anniversary Sets I also sent (5) 2008 with 2007 reverse.
They came back (1) 68 (3) 69's (1) 70 so out of 11 coins I got
(5) 68's 46%
(4) 69's 36%
(2) 70's 18%

earle42m, I am confused, you list both a P mint coin and a reverse proof coin for the 2011 set. Aren't they the same thing? There is only one P mint coin in the set. Where is the bullion strike?

Did you mean:

(S) bullion
W uncirculated
S uncirculated
W proof
P reverse proof

Whether you recognize the bullion as (S) isn't important, since there is only one bullion strike coin in the set, but it is definitely not a P coin.

I am not sending any of my sets in but I have seen first hand that dealers get higher grades from at least PCGS because I sent in one coin and had already had set up that once I received the coin back I would send it to a BIG dealer on another forum and he would crack it out and resend it and that coin came back 2 grades higher when he sent it in. I was very upset with these results but he did it with a few others and I think it was like 90% of the time they were at least one point higher, and the ones that didn't go higher were lucky to receive their initial grades. So all these claims that they do not know who the submitter or if its sent in for crossover or regrade they don't know the first grade it received is pretty much hog wash in my opinion
