Went to the store today and the cashier handed me this in my change. It's a 1957 US Lincoln Wheat penny and I noticed that there seems to be some doubling on the reverse side letters and didn't know if it was worth anything or only worth a penny. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everybody.

Don't think its a DDR, I'm not aware of discovered doubling on a 57 rev except the wheat ears and motto. I'm calling it MD but will differ to the more experienced LWC people.

I don't see any doubling but it is worth morethan one cent not much more. Nice coin though.

Thanks for the reply and for the help on this. I'm quite new at all of this when it comes to US coin errors and I'm still kinda finding out the resources that I should be using so any advice or help is most greatly appreciated.

I will try to get some closer more detailed pics up of the obverse and reverse lettering in a bit. Is there any other things that I should be looking out for under high magnification? Thanks again everybody.

Looking at it again, it does look like MD. It was still a nice find though. Thanks again to all who posted on this thread.

The top of the right arm of the "N" looks like PMD. Along the right side is most likely MD.
Rest in Peace

Considering that it has been in circulation, that penny is in great shape. It would cost you around ten cents to buy one like that.

I see Machine Doubling and PMD but nothing else remarkable. I am not a penny expert, however. There are sites just for pennies and maybe you can get more information there.

I think it is really something to find a coin that old still in circulation. So, YEA!

I love that. Isn't it great to find some oldies when they're just handed to you? That's what got me interested in the first place!

Living here in Canada, it's a treat to see US change every once in awhile but to find a penny from the 50's is pretty neat. Thank you once again for your comments and for your expertise. :)
