Quote: Off topic but has anyone watched hardcore pawn? Now that show seems like full blown BS. I think pawn stars is the most realistic out of them all. I've had friends go to the actual shop and meet some of the guys. They arent there very often though and the show is obviously scripted but it's still fairly real
Hard core pawn is more akin to a pawn store than Pawn stars, which basically places ads to get people to bring in rare items and get a chance to appear on tv. That said Rick, Big Hoss and Old man are nicer bunch and honest than the Golds.'

Is there an internet address to watch hardcore pawn? Pawn stars is so hokey, speaking from experience and knowing a pawn store owner who started from scratch and now has dozens of stores. Of course, he triples his money on most stuff, not this nonsense of paying 80% of what something might sell for if they're lucky. Maybe that's why they only have one store in a city like Vegas.

Just casue pawn stars places an ad asking you to bring in your rare iteam dosent make em any less of a a pawnshop does it? Somebody who has something in the closet from many years back reads the ad and a lightbulb goes on...oh ya I forgot I had that kinda thing. The bit about bieng on tv is just good marketing, put them one step above all the other pawn shops IMO.
That bieng said I'm shure its scripted. Someone bring something in, they say its cool we'll bring in an expert(all off camera). In the mean time the writers go to work comin up with something witty for rick to say, and something dum for chumlee to say something seanile for the old man...and cory, they should just get rid of him altogether. Then they film it all as if its happening in real time. (I doubt if the whole film crew is there 24/7 waiting for something cool to come in)
Ive wathced an interview with chum, and he basicly said he dosent do any pawning any more, hes just there to talk to people about the show and what not. BUT hes in almost all of the "pawns" on tv... so that to me means its heavily scripted.
On a side not, have you ever seen there camera pans over the coin cases....makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

Hardcore Pawn is nothing but the lowest IQ Detroit has to offer, paid by the directors to go in there and stir up trouble, easily a scripted show. Same exact format every-time, they bring in some 15 year obsolete junk, and toss a fit when he will not give them five hundred for it, rof ... I could imagine a real crazy guy doing that every once in a while, but every day, come on so fake....

An the guy on Hardcore pawn, Gold. If his character is real, he must be the sleaziest cheap crooked snake oil salesman on the planet. He robs people with his offers IMO....
One of those crooks who will reap what karma has to sew before it is all said an done....

I watched the first season every time it came on but I have to admit after I saw Fred kick the boys off the claim when I was wanting to see what was in that "glory hole" especially when it looked like they had the equipment they needed to do it, it really just made me not even want to watch it anymore. I do see previews as I watch history,H2,bio and all those shows pretty much constantly but I just haven't even watched one complete episode this season

Interesting thing about that hole Bryan, is the Hoffman's were goin about it all WRONG. They were digging strait down, without spreading the total surface area of the hole itself, and ignoring gold rich dirt which leads right up to the wash plant.....
Fred an his guys came in, and started mining it in much larger area, like a football field diameter leading to the wash plant.....
Now his son has located which side of the wash-plant the big nuggets are coming from....
Another words, the Hoffman's were so worried about getting to bedrock, they missed a field full of lightly buried gold scattered in the dirt around that hole. That must be a classic rookie mistake....
An Jack seems to know how to run that 400, but the way he dug that glory hole out was all wrong. Strait down without any regard to making himself a ledge for his 400, or a way to get it back out again. An again, he had no concern about extending the surface area of the top of the hole, in essence which would have made the hole much WIDER, and way easier to access.....

I love how the inspector came out and shut down the the kid Parker's mine. They ran for 23 years with no incident, and obviously Canada is not on top of inspections, via to little funding an too much territory. As soon as there on T.V. and in the spotlight, they come out to pass out the fines, and shut them down, typical. Then force them to hire a safety trainer and of course the only one they could fine was from their org, whatever it is called .... They should be called WE WILL COME OUT AND ROB YOU BLIND AS WE WANT OUR CUT, so the WWCOARYBAWWOC, rof ..... Federal red tape BS is such a barricade....

The episode was boring, same as before another Hoffman mistake and in the end. Todd manages to rally the troops in spite of yet another blunder.

I will say MPC 9 oz. roughly 14,750 in one day is not a total loss..... Todd wanted to run for 24 hours, BIG MISTAKE. Silt is the problem, mud. Clogs the gold traps what ever they are called, and gold washes off the top. Gold is 19 times heavier then water so it sinks into the sluice box when it is not impeded by globs of mud. So some washed out no doubt and they did run 18 hours not 24. If they had ran 24, they would have pulled 12 oz. I figure, or a bit over 20 grand.... The green horns need to figure that pump an filter is their heart, and it must not get clogged. Run in 6 hour increments, and stop for an hour or so, and let that silt settle back into the holding pond.... Man that sounds good, I must have slept in a holiday inn express last night.... They may even have some one physically get out in that pond and unclog that filter, via sticks and other junk....

Crazy part of me wouldn't mind doing what they do at least for the experience, amazing Alaska views and old fashioned hard work for potential rewards & riches.

We've been back to Vegas a couple times since the wife and I became fans of Pawn Stars. The Deuce used to stop almost in front of it, now you have to walk through several dicey blocks. The wife got her picture taken with Chumlee, it was fun to see all the stuff from the show. We had a good time, bought a magnet for the fridge and a Tshirt each.
The shop is doing no business except selling show merchandise. Tshirts, hoodies, bumper stickers, bobble heads, snow globes, air fresheners, shot glasses, you name it. Last time we went at 8 at night on a Sunday (killing time before our redeye home) and there was 20 people in line buying nick nacks. They are making a killing selling 15 cent shot glasses for $7.99 and 99 cent Tshirts for $19.99.
Honestly I don't care that the show is scripted. It's TV. I enjoy seeing all the stuff and what it's worth. It's the redneck Antiques Roadshow.
