Quote: I will never understand why anyone touches silver bullion with bare hands, unless the intention is to create artificial toning. Me either. This is exactly why I keep records of exactly who I purchase new bullion coins from. If one of the coins develops a finger print, then I'll know exactly who to get on to. Since I started doing this, I haven't had a coin develop a finger print. Also, when I was buying bullion ASE's from dealers at shows, I'd only buy the ones that were already in flips as opposed to the ones where the dealers just opened a roll and spread them out. My logic was they the dealers that already had them in flips were more likely to have taken their time handling them properly. Finally, the 3rd party grading services using their bare hands is exactly why I won't purchase a newly 3rd party graded silver coin. They can put their fingers on the coin and put it in the slab without it showing evidence of what they've done. Down the line a finger print could develop and I'd have no way to prove if it was the 3rd party grading service or the original submitter that caused the problem. If you buy coins that have already been in a slab for a while and show no evidence of a problem, future problems are much less likely to develop.

My previous order of 10 from BSAGC all came in capsules..which is fine BUT it means someone had to put them IN the capsules..on receipt I took them out and filled a tube..
This order came IN a sealed tube with 10 empty capsules included...MUCH better

I just received the Ellis Island P puck from the mint and am concerned with rim issues and would like your input. The front has scrapes and if you look at the reverse it is dented at about 1 o'clock. If it goes back this would be the second in a row. I don't think I am asking too much to get a pristine coin from the mint am I?

IMO, expecting an absolutely pristine coin from the Mint is a bit too much, but what you receive should be in better condition than the piece in your images. I did not notice anything of consequence on the one I received. I would return it for a replacement.

I'm not saying I expect a PR70 but the coin goes into a capsule after struck. I'm not sure if it is an automated process or if done by hand, if it's the latter you would think things like this would be caught.

Three of the four River of No Return images have images of a squirrel or wolf, but no river. Five of the eight War in the Pacific images have turtles or fish, but nothing related to war. The Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee (CCAC) and Commission of Fine Arts (CFA) need to recommend not using artists that have missed the point.

Re: returning ATB Bullion: Gotta be careful who you buy from. These large silver disc are so easily marred, I only get them from Provident, JM Bullion, and occasionally from APMEX when there is a good sale on them. Typically the ones I receive from these outlets are flawless. I will never buy these from third party vendors on ebay ever again, they might or might not come with a capsule, and I am batting .000 on getting a fingerprint free coin from ebay. Almost always a large fat clear sticky fingerprint on the clear open area, ewww, the kind you could send to the FBI forensics lab for analysis. (Someone should start this database of dealers forbidden from ever touching another ATB coin again with bare hands!) That said, remember you are buying for as for Bullion stacking, not for collecting, per se, so many times the Bullion dealers frown on returns for frivolous reasons such as minor dings, scratches and the like from the mint process. There's similar wording you are advised before buying.
