I'm doing a second reply to John (he also posted in the U.S. forum), as I think he merits an introduction. He is a very good collector/student of these contemporary forgeries... John, I'm sure you've crossed paths with "swamperbob" on ebay and/or elsewhere (maybe even as recently as yesterday...). Bob is the main interested party on here concerning these pieces. He's a tad more focused on the Cap & Rays as opposed to the Colonial portraits, but as you probably know, he is a dedicated and knowledgeable collector of those as well. Myself, I'm primarily interested in the genuine stuff, but obviously you run into the old forgeries (and unfortunately, lots of new ones) in the course of doing that... and if I bump into a piece I find interesting, I sometimes snag it.
One word of advice from glancing at your other intro posts... You may want to go easy with any solicitation on here, at least until your level of dedication makes itself apparent. "They" (whoever they are) tend to get fairly tiffy when anyone (especially newer posters) shows personal contact info, website URLs, etc.
Should be interesting to have you and swamperbob together on here... If you guys recruit the guy in Canada and that guy Steve from NJ, the Quadrilateral Committee of Contemporary Counterfeit Collectors would truly be in session.
