I noticed this coin on ebay and it is a great looking coin except for a few things that seem odd to me. On the obverse the bead necklace seems to be somewhat ill defined for a cent of high grade. On the reverse the extra metal in the letters don't look right either.

What do some of you IHC experts think?

Can you take a straight on shot of the lettering on the reverse?

I'd like to see the diamonds close up, they could have been recut, something about the finish of the whole coin doesn't look kosher to me, maybe burnished and recolored?

The reverse lettering is typical of Longacre coins, having a lot of tooling and recutting on letters. Don't see anything weird from that, but it sure shows up nice on this example.

Actually this coin is on ebay here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1905-Indian...em3f112fb34f ,Item #270871278415. I hesitated to include that fact in my original post because I do not want to cast suspicion on any seller without first knowing what I am talking about. My motive is to learn to spot suspicious coins and avoid them. I know fake and doctored coins have always been a problem in this hobby but now more than ever before. I have already had several "learning experiences" and hope to avoid any more through knowledge of what to watch for in a coin. Even though I have been collecting for over forty years I know there is so much I need to learn. One thing I have learned is that the depth of knowledge and experience available on this site is amazing and priceless.

For a little over $10, if it stays that way, and free shipping, should be worth the try.

Doesn't look to have orginial surfaces, but still a nice high grade coin

I have been burned a few times with fakes on ebay, and something about this one screams RUN! Looks fake to me.

It doesn't look right to me either, something about the color.
