That was my instinct as well! Further searching on here noted that the seller of this coin is known for that, however he has one negative feedback compared to 6453 positives and 2 neutrals in the last 12 months.

I will avoid!

Yeah, good idea to avoid the seller.

The hairline scratches is a very good indicator that the coin has been cleaned. (And it is way to shiny for a coin of that age)

Nice detailed coin ruined by someone who probably meant well.

Wow someone went crazy with a belt sander on that one... XF details, harshly cleaned and polished.

Look inside the "A's" That is what the coin used to look like. You can see bits of toning around some of the sharper angles in the arrows and at the inside points of some of the stars on the obverse.

It was listed as "AU" and ended up selling for $45.45.

It seems Barber quarters are more difficult to find in better grades without them being "doctored" to appear better than they actually are.
