to CCF. There are known errors like that but we would need a good photo of the front and back as well as the edge. The weight would also help a lot. If it's real it's worth a good premium. John1

Most likely, it is a dime that has had it's outer layer of nickel (not silver) removed by some form of chemical reaction, exposing the pure copper core underneath. not worth more than 10c
Or more unlikely, it is a dime that was struck with its nickel clad layer missing. Is the edge reeded? a penny planchet will not have a reeded edge.

A cent planchet can't fit into a dime collar. A cent could be struck on a smaller planchet, or a larger denomination could be struck on a smaller planchet, but not the othe way.

A cent planchet will not fit into a dime collar so it is not struck on a cent planchet. In most cases a dime looking like this has some type of damage causing it to look copper in color. There are some other possibilities but a photo of both sides is needed.

I'm not sure it's possible t all to have a dime minted on a cent planchet - like Coop says - the planchet would be too large to fit in the chamber.

yes the coin has a reeded edge I'am working on a pic of it, didnt have time this weekend. I'll also try to weight it. when I get pic of it you'll see on the rim some wear and you can see the white metal showing through the rest of the dime looks like a dime with sharp details on front and back

Most likely it is a discolored dime. (Environmental damage.)

I have found a coin that I believe is the same thing you are talking about. Mine is smaller than a dime, but as thick as a penny I have measured, the words liberty, America, and dime, are slightly cut off by the raised edge, which is ribbed on part of the inside but totally smooth on the outer edge. Please respond as I have not been able to find any information on this coin. thanks.I know its not very good but I have added a picture.

These are usually found in commercial sized dryers. The fall is a lot further in these than a home dryer.
