New discussion topic. Is it redesign time for the dime or half dollar? What are your thoughts? If you say yes, what design or image should be used?

personally, I'd rather they leave them be given that they've basically created the stupidest coins in US history with the president dollars and the shield cent reverse... not to mention what recent commemoratives look like. I think we are better off with what we have.

Iwould say leave the Half alone...we dont use them anyway so why waste money redesigning something that would just be NIFC. I couldnt care less about dimes either. The only ones I own are in my 7070. So I guess just leave them alone...IMO

I would leave the half dollars alone...but the dimes I would like to see them go back to the Mercury dime, but have a different reverse design.

Absolutely, A redesign would be great for both denominations of coin. With new designs using Liberty on the obverse again would be great. Presidents and Would Be Kings should not adorn the coinage of a country whose striving goal is Liberty For All

. Would love to see the revival of old designs, such as a nice 2012 Merc

Yes, politicizing coins was just a bad idea. I like some of the liberty designs coming out of the mint. So much in fact that I bought the $5 Medal of honor commemorative(i know its Minerva not liberty). Id actually like to see some new takes on liberty, but would also like if the cfa and ccac had the old options to review with the new ones just in case the mint fails miserably

I am in favor of a redesign. Regardless if the fact that the half's are NIFC the design is old and the dime is ancient. Designs should be kept new and fresh. I would love to see a return to something classic in nature but make it fresh and not a copy of something old. Maybe a redo of the Merc with a 3/4 head view? Not sure about the penny...

I would love to see the coins revert back to older designs without the presidents. The older coins have more character and are more easily changeable because designers don't feel a commitment to that one president in particular

For the half, I'd love a re-imagining of the Ben Franklin obverse and the Liberty Bell reverse.
For dimes, I'm not so sure.

I did a quick google search, I like these for the dime. The reverse can maybe just be a design around the edge with "one dime" in the middle. But I did like this eagle from the designs for the 2010 penny

I wouldn't mind if the dime were changed to a likeness of the Statue of Liberty on the obverse with a nested eagle on the reverse.

Don't waste the time or money on the half since no one uses it. Might be time for a refresh on the time - but please no silly little pictures like some of the garbage that has come out recently. Let's see a nice classical design with symbology.

Redesign the dime, for sure. Either completely redesign the Half Dollar (so it becomes a new series) or quit making them. The Dansco Kennedy half dollar album can end with 2011 and be full.

I say redesign the dime. That design is one day older than dirt. I agree with the masses who have responded that the new design should somehow revert back to a more classic design.(pre-presidential coins)I would collect modern coinage if it were something I enjoyed looking at.
