Here is another one I found some time ago searching through rolls. Its a 1984 D. The d has been doubled over itself and yet another D is showing below it to the right. Anyone ever see one of these? The D is infact right against the 4 on the date. Very strange and any help with this one or a value would be appreciated.

This one is a little more interesting,, although from the pic I'm having trouble telling what is actually going on with the MM,, it is quite a way out of position since it appears to be touching another part of the design.

Thanks for the replies Rick,

Being that the coin is pretty coiled and toned, it is really hard to see the MM really good. Looking through my 10-20X loop, I can make out a DBl Die D and an extra D to the right. Seems to be 3 Ds on this penny. Not sure how to increase the focus or clear it up anymore then this. Think maybe this coin could be a candidate for Grading? Atleast that way I could have it certified an error. Haven't seen any other listings for 1984D error coins anywhere.

I would really hate to advise spending money to have the coin certified without knowing for sure that its not a plating anomoly of some sort ,,

Lets just leave the pics posted for a bit and see if some of the other Guys will post opinions !!

I blew it up a little. Starts to get really grainy. But it might help some of you get a better look at it.

I wonder if this isn't a Philly cent, and that is some sort of non-doubling planchet error.

Madhandles has the right answer. It's a P mint cent, and the bulbulous cancer you're seeing is not a mintmark at all. It's a burst gas bubble that happens to be in a place that caused confusion.
