All Collectors, regardless of what they collect and it's value, have a fear! What are you afraid of regarding your Coin Collection?

Yeah, if that happened, I would try to start again but I would be too discouraged and too afraid that it might happen again. That's why people have safes.

Would imagine, buying a fake coin would be the toughest thing to stomach (other than theft or fire).

Invest in a safe. Can be used for more than just coins.

Buying fake coins prolly. Cleaned coins not so much, because if they were cleaned lightly and look OK for my collection than I wouldnt mind.

My greatest fear is that I die and my wife/daughters get ripped off when liquidating. I do my best to train 'em up on selling...

Definitely theft. Having been at this for many years, I agree with others who've said it would be really hard, if not impossible, to start over.

Theft for sure. If I die, my dad would know what to do with the coins and he would not get ripped off trying to liquidate.

Besides theft, perhaps my biggest fear is the price of silver dropping to below $10 and staying there...
Rest in Peace

  • theft
  • fire
  • fakes

In that order. Fakes lowest, because I can do something about that.

For me it's been a theft that happened just over a year ago and then having to sell part of your collection due to a financial emergency. That sale happened about several days ago. So for me its been 2 instances and they were horrible. 2010 and 2011 have been...ugh...bad.

Theft, then moisture/fire damage, then having to sell off parts or all of my collection, then fakes.

We all have lots of money and time put in our collections, right?
Theft for sure. Safe guard your collection as much as possible...especially now.
