back side is perfect.

am I correct in this considered a mis-aligned die strike error?

what sort of premium would this carry ?

Whoa, it looks like the edge lifting up. If it is, it's a die cap. And I think those are worth quite a lot.

I think it's either a die cap or partial collar.

I personally don't see evidence of a die cap or partial collar.

The cent has a minor mis-alignment of the Reverse die. From the books I've read, to be collectible as a mis-aligned die error it needs to be far enough off that some of the design is missing. So unfortunately I don't think this sample would have much of a premium.

What about the lack of rim definition between about 7 and 1 o'clock? That is why I was thinking collar issue?

Hi there. After rummaging through a box of 'set aside for future reference', two similar pennies showed up. Both are '96, one with the offset to the south, the other to the west. Scissel is probably right, in that the misalignment is within tolerances.

However, after staring at these coppers, they definitely have an eye appeal. I'll be moving mine to the box labeled 'keepers'.
