I also collect stamps. When I'm up to date with the coin collecting, which is almost never these days, I work on the stamps. Mainly Aussie ones of course, but have a fairly large world collection as well.

I have been collecting stamps longer than I have been collecting coins. I have about 8000 different stamps and about 4000 swaps.
With the coins I only have about 1300.

My user name is a dead giveaway. Unfortunatly the Post Office has turned into a for profit bussiness with our tax dollars. Like the older coins, they used to put some thought and meaning into them. Now they crank out anything just to get that buck.

it's interesting how the prices have changed over the years. I tend to like the older stamps...and the presidential's because they look like money.

My partner is there serious stamp collector, but I have my own topical sub-collection of stamps with American flags on them, starting with Scott 121. Still have some holes to fill, however.

I remember the year stamps went up from 29 to 32 cents. The head of the post office said they needed the money to pay for 'upgrading equipment.' Two weeks after congress passed the increase you found out the top 25 people at the USPS split $8 million in bonuses. :P

I collect stamps too. Got all the stamps on sports themes from Romania from the first series issued up to 1985. Since then I've got a few gaps. Also have almost all romanian stamps between 1969-1985.
Looks like stamp collecting is frequent among coin collectors.

Why not combine them both. This is a first day cover for the Queens Silver Jubilee which also combines it with a commemorative silver dollar with the Queens Senate throne on it.
