It is a damaged die on the reverse ad Die Deterioration on the obverse die. Neither anomaly is connected to each other.

It's not a die dent. Part of the periphery of the field portion of the die was lost as the result of mechanical damage.
Error coin writer and researcher.

Well, all three would be correct in respect to it being die damage and not related to a die failure( Cud) but the specific cause is what is in question. IMO, the specific cause does not matter too much and is largely an academic argument. It is an interesting but small anomaly and it would have very little premium.
