Bought these at work today - $300 worth of 20c!

Other than the wavy... Anything else I should be on the look out for?

ALL 2001 federations
1995 United Nations
Any error coins, Cuds, lightly stamped dates and miss struck
And any coins that were not meant for circulation.

2004 big head and small head are not popular, tried to sell them on ebay for $1 and got no bids.

I keep the 1971 date coin as well. From the top of my head mintage is a little over 8 million. I dont find many of them, maybe 1 or 2 per $100. For some reason I only ever find act or sa federation coins so if you get any different and theyre doubles for you I'm up for a trade.

I find noodling much like fishing, the enjoyment is in the hunt and if you catch something its a bonus. You still did well with this lot. I went through $100 of 20c this morning. I opened $80 and the old man did $20. I did not keep a single coin but he managed to find 2 1971, a federation and 2 UN coins. Its weird how the are distributed. If you go through $100 tonight you will prob get 5 times as much.

I didn't want to start a new thread but thought this may be a good place to post. Had my first noodling experience the other day. I got the following from the bank.

$10 in 5c coins
$10 in 10c coins
$40 in 20c coins
$500 in 50c coins

From this I found a full circulating set of the mob of roos of all of these coins (minus the 1972 5c coin). I didn't have any luck finding a 1966 wavy 20c or the UN or federation 20c coins. However I did find the following 50c varities (I note that I didn't keep any coins that weren't better than EF).

1970 Captain Cook x 2
1977 Silver Jubilee x 3
1995 Weary Dunlop x 4
1998 First Fleet x 5
2001 Federation Tasmania x 2
2001 Federation NSW x 1
2001 Norfolk Island x 1
2001 Northern Territory x 2
2001 Western Australia x 1
2001 Victoria x 1

I also found a few NZ and Fiji coins, however when I put them back into the coin counter as the bank they were counted as Australian currency so all was good. I also kept some extra nicer examples of the 1972/73/93 and 97 50c coins.

I also wondered if the bank would struggle to come up with this many coins and if you had to ask ahead of time but the bank was more than happy to help.

The only problem was carrying it back to the car, 1000 50c coins alone weigh slightly over 10kg, so in future I wont park so far away

Also what denomination do people have the most luck sorting through, I assume it's the 20c and 50c. However you could look through 5c for the 1972 and $1 (for the 2000 mule). Is there anything I should be looking for outside the 5c 1972, 2001 50c/20c commemoratives, 20c 1966 wavy, 2000 50c incuse and 2000 $1 mule.
