*** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***Hey everyone I'm pretty sure I know what it is, but just want to make sure. How common is this? If better pics are needed just say so, I'll post more tomorrow. Thanks Feel free to move this, thought I posted it in the error section. Edited by akane17 01/09/2012 9:03 pm

My guess is that its pretty common I have a about a roll and 1/2 of steels and 4 or 5 of them are missing the 4. though most of them are S mint marks.

I also have one in similar condition. I don't care how common they are, I think they are pretty darn neat.

Looks more like worn cent that was replated and circulated. I don't think this is a Greaser.

Cool find. I definitely would keep it. I don't think they are that common since I've seen many thousands of wheats and I have never found one. I've seen a few Memorials and Zincolns though, but not many.

See these on ebay sold as "Ghost 4" Definitely a neat error. Filled Die Sturck through error. Common, yet I have seen them sell for up to $7 every now and then

Yep, I had one of those "Ghost Digits", sold it to keep my MS-66 Steelie for my 7070.

Looks like to me die deteriation. This year they used steel planchets and steel dies. The devices wore quicker because of the material used on the dies and the planchets. If it were a struck through error, it would be unusual to see so many examples with the same anomoly. If it were a worn cent re-processed more of the devices would be enhanced and not missing devices. Also the color would be a darker color and glossy looking. Just a normal steel cent from this year.
