without quoting photograde, I will just say VG.

I remember reading something about letters in LIBERTY. just don't remember which grade it was. I'm pretty sure it was for VG if you have a couple or something visible on the obv. I think "none" takes it to G, and all letters may take it to F? something like that. Someone is sure to have a book handy, but my opinion is VG regardless.

Yeah tights, the letters in LIBERTY are indeed the cause of my confusion. In VG-8, the entire shield is weak, most of the gown details are worn smooth, and only some of the letters in LIBERTY are clear; however; in F-12, some details show in hair and cap, and at the shoulder and breast. Also, all shield lines and letters in LIBERTY are weak but visible. Foot and sandal are seperated.
So.....maybe VG-10?

One of the problems of being new at this is that you're sure of a grade, and, then, after you've studied it some more, you're not so sure. That's where I'm at with this coin - any additional assistance from more knowledgable minds than mine will be much appreciated. Thanks.

Split grade, I think. F12 obverse, VG8-ish reverse (there's a little more wing detail than is usually assigned to the grade), net VG8.

I would be a little liberal on this one. I gave it a F-12 grade because it does meet all the parameters of that grade. LIBERTY does look a little weak on some letters but they are still there and that is the criteria for the motto. On the reverse the thing that gave it F-12 for me was the right side of the shield has to still be separated and the talons can be flat but still distinguishably separated which they are.

Disclaimer: Just my opinion, I am not an expert and therefore this grade is only assumed and should not be used for resale purposes. Thank you.

Irish, I, too, believe it would grade in the F-12 area due to the amount of detail still on the coin, and that's what I will inventory it as. Thanks to all for your opinions.

I would have to go along with F-12 also. Liberty complete but partly weak.
