Just wondering what everyone does with any extra spaces in their Dansco or similar album? I personally fill mine in with nice examples of whatever series, or semi-key/key dates. The empty spots just drive me crazy. What do you do?

are you talking about blank spaces at the end, or holes of coin or varieties that you don't have

for those at the back, I just use as storage for extras or special coins

Trout, you have some great errors there! Instead of wheat chaff they put a humpback raccoon instead!

(it's ok to tease Aussies on this board, right?)

Not a problem, we Aussies have pretty thick skin.
We can put up with a bit of ragging from you blokes down below us on the "bottom" of the world

If the series is one that I only have a couple extras then I put them in the spaces at the end of the album. If it is a series with lots of extras then I leave the spaces blank. I could never decide which coins to put in these spaces. And for my favorite series, the Mercury dime, I just bought 3 different albums. But that still did not solve the problem with the extras. Hmm.

I also like putting error coins and whatnot in the blank spaces. I love chipped planchets, so most of my albums have some deep in the back.

In my Lincoln album I got a hold of mint tokens (struck on a cent planchet) and put them in the empty slots.

Hate to brag about Whitman But they do not have those empty slots at the end of pages. Although Whitman has some quality issues with their Albums, that is one nice thing about them. They plan out the Albums so no empty places at the end. All pages are planned so there is only slots for coins for that issue.
I too have some Dansco Albums and end up putting continuous dated coins in those slots. For example at the end of a Liberty Head Half Album, I start putting in the continuing Walking Liberty halves. For those empty slots in my Liberty Head Quarter Album, I put Standing Liberty quarters.
I really don't know why Dansco doesn't spend time figuring out just what goes into an Album. Why those silly empty spaces?

I asked this same question four years ago. Here is the archived thread if anyone wants to see that discussion and my answer...

While that original thread focuses on my Eisenhower dollars (and mentions the Lincoln Wheat Cents), I always fill out the excess unlabeled holes in an album with duplicates. For example, there are five duplicate Franklin half dollars at the end of that album.
