It's interesting that dealers are now selling the 2007 ASEs, but the US Mint doesn't list the 2007 AGEs. Anyone hear when the gold pieces will be available?
Also, what's your preference on the gold eagles, proof or uncirculated?

Are the dealers selling bullion AGE or "W" AGE. The mint only offers bullion coins to selected dealers.

I buy NOTHING but BU, or uncirculated silver or gold Eagles as they were designed as bullion investment coins. I will not pay the HUGE difference in price for a proof finish as all you have in the end is gold and silver value based on the weight of the coin. Granted some years have increased in collector value but I am still not willing to gamble the extra money for proofs or slabs as both are heavily hyped in an imaginary market.

I just checked the mint website and they have the "W" AGE for 720.00.

I'm with Crystalk on this one. Brilliant Uncirculated unless, like he said, you're willing to pay the Premium just in case they may increase in value more quickly...doubtful...but, possible. I received a late Birthday present today of my first 2007 BU ASE and it's beautiful - just like the rest of them! You could buy several Silver ones for the price of Gold. I'm also a Gold collector but, not in the ASE's. The Gold ones just don't look real or something to me. Just me!

This rule of your's doesn't apply when it comes time to buy Buffalo gold, or am I mistaken?

Good point OldDan! What say you to that crystalk? Dag nabit...I thought we had him until I re-read his post. He was carefully specific and did say "Eagles"!

Boy, My family is really concentrating on ASE's at the moment. My wife and I each recived our 20th Anniversary set recently. Our oldest son just received his 10 sets. Our daughter was afraid she would not get her order, but three sets arrived just a few days ago, and the possibility of three more for her and her kids still exist. Also, probably the daughter's favorite collection is her ASE's in a Dansco Album. She moved not too long ago and is presently trying to find them so that she can share them with other family members. Finally, one of my grand daughters, "Coin Girl," has fallen in love with ASE's and they are No. 1 on her want list at the moment. They are beautiful coins. I guess we can call them coins. My collection is by date, and will be complete after I get the 2007. In addition I do have a few proof coins from years past.

I see the 2006, not the 2007. Am I on the wrong page?

I can't argue with your logic crystal64, but who can deny or resist the beauty of a proof gold coin? I don't think I can. I'm probably going to pick up a few pieces when I see them go on sale.
Any thoughts on the future numismatic value of these "bullion" coins? Anyone?
