Why wouldn't the seller have had this graded? Its getting plenty of looks, and bids, but it would seem it would have been worth it to have graded. Cleaned?

Cleaned maybe; the big scratch on the reverse is probably enough on its' own to keep it out of a slab. If I were going to drop a 4-figure number on a coin, this wouldn't be the one.

Absolutely worth a TPG visit and the fact it's not slabbed strikes me as suspicious. Even a "problem" coin of this value should be slabbed to assure authenticity.

Gradewise it looks like an AU-55 and likely a Full Head to boot. Probably worth over $2K if genuine and problem-free.

The seller has no other coins for sale. He's been virtually inactive for some months. Some of the seller's wording sounds like pigeon English. The coin's description is generic, textbook lingo. I'd be wary of this one ...

It definitely looks too good to be true considering its not slabbed. I cannot see any traces of cleaning but that may very well be as a result of lighting or angle. It does appear to have a ton of detail on the coin itself. I think Exoguy nailed it, I would be wary of this one. It definitely looks too good to be true.

His description alone would eliminate me from bidding.
The S also looks strange. Why isn't this coin authenticated is right.
