Is this a Type 2? These aren't in my comfort zone. I tried on the pix. Like taking a picture of a mirror.

Thanks NickelGuy. Sure looks like it to me(hopefully.)More rounded loops and bulbous serifs seem to match up to those pictured on Ken Potter's site. Other opinions?

I was hoping for a few more replies. I really don't know these coins too well. Any opinions will be appreciated.

I think it is the type 2 also:
http://www.smalldollars.com/dollar/page29.html

It shows the large, bulb like, serifs.

Do you have the rest of the proof set or just the coin?

I would totally agree, this is a sweet looking example of the "CRISPER" S mint mark, AKA the type 2.......In hand a very nice looking coin.....Mike

Thanks Mike and all who responded. Now to decide if this is worth slabbing. It should come back a high MS proof.

You mean PR for proof. MS refers to business strike coins.

Good catch coop. I guess in my joy for finding the type 2 I lost my terminology.

That is a great piece! And the proof type 2 is what I "picked" in my type set as a SB example. :D

No, but I wish I did though. I should have bought one over 30 years ago, when they were much cheaper.

We all should have bought lotsa items 30 years ago when they were cheaper.
