Today I stopped at a place called Wendy's for a few Cheeseburgers. At the cashier, I gave her a $10 bill, she handed me my change and in it was a, as new a 1959D Lincoln Cent, as if it was still 1959. I tried asking her if there were more in the cash register. She just looked at me and said "more order?" "Want more?" I again said, to this obvious Hispanic lady, no I just want to know if there are any more coins like this in the cash register. She stared at me and said "place order please." Obviously she did not really speak English nor could understand either but could just understand what you wanted to order. So I said ome more coke please and again handed her some bills. The cash register faced away from me so I couldn't see inside. While it was open I showed her the 1959D Cent and said any more like this one? And again she handed me my change for the coke, no cents this time and she closed the cash register. I said did you hear what I just said? She just walked away. I waved at a guy also behind the counter and asked him if there was any way on Earth that he could look in the register for such a coin. He too looked at me and said "more order?" I just took my stuff and left. My next door neighbor has been out of work for a long time. Usually when he applies anywhere they tell him not a chance unless he can speak Spanish.

Your Spanish was pretty accurate. This reminds me; I was at a McDonald's a few months ago, and got an AU 1961 LMC in change. I stuck it in my Whitman folder.

Curious. I have seen this here in the CCF!
I came across this problem when I visited San Diego a couple of years ago. Didn't see any new looking '59D pennies in the cash register though.......

I went back to that same place later in the day and ordered a Cheeseburger. No more 59D's in my change so then ordered fries and again nothing. Finally I ordered a coke and again, nothing good in my change. I again tried to ask if there were any really new looking Pennies in the register and again, the lady looked at me and said "more food?" I just gave up and left. I really don't think anyone there could really speak English but knew enough to take orders for food.

I was watching my favourite news channel, C.N.N., the other day. The news person stated that by the year 2050 caucasians in the U.S. will be the visible minority and English will be a second language. Maybe it will be a good idea to start taking Spanish and Chinese (Mandarin) language courses. Glenn

My Hispanic friend was just telling me about how this guy kept coming into her restaurant and ordering food, one item at a time. She said she thinks he was complaining about being given the wrong change, but this guy kept ordering more food, then would count the change really carefully. She thinks her boss sent the guy in to make sure she was giving the correct change.
lol just kidding Carl. I just can't help laughing about how confusing that must have been for her.

She does have a job, gets paid, probably does not pay taxes, probably eats free and takes free food home. She waits on many people that are out of work and just passing by while looking for a job. Must be an old story or it's already 2050 by me.

You want to really have fun at Wendy's, pay with a Susan B Anthony, an Ike and a 2 dollar bill. As for unc Lincolns, we got a roll of 1964, a roll of 1963 and a roll of 1962 all in the same day at the bank where I work. That stuff is still out there.

Quote: NO RPM. As I mentioned almost as if just made yesterday. RPM stands for RePunched Mintmark. It has nothing to do with the age or condition of the coin. It might have been easier for you to just get a job there and look through the register.
