Holy Cow, I can't believe I missed the start of this. Unfortunately, the Superbowl is a higher priority today, so I'll be catching up tomorrow.

Wow that is a very interesting coin Fransch My second coin will be: #2: 20 Centavos, 1879 - Peru (Mintage: 498.000) Love the design Too bad for the damage on the reverse..

jfransch, those are always cool, especially when there's so much left of the host coin! Today I present another uncle of Victoria's, William IV: Hannover 1834 one sixth of a thaler. William IV was the last to hold both crowns of the UK and Hannover. Then it was off "to Hanover" for (yet another) uncle, Ernst August. And Victoria said, Fine, then I'll be the Empress of India (illustrations to follow).

Missed yesterday, so I'll show two today. #11 is a big ol' Morgan-dollar-size 1892 Peruvian sol, a fairly common silver coin from a long running series: #10 is from Guatemala, 1894 peso, half a mm smaller than the sol, but note the strong thematic similarities between these two coins:

mysilveryears => wow, I am very jealous of that wonderful coin and of your knack for snapping such awesome photos! (man, I must have no patience and/or a shaky hand?) Number 10A & 10B
=> 1880 and 1881 Newfie 20 cent piecesNOTE: I figured I could post both of them, for I couldn't decide which one I liked better, "plus", their combined mintage was only "90,000" ... amazing, eh? (the 1880 had a mintage of only 30,000 coins and the 1881 had a mintage of only 60,000) ... ahhh, the good ol' days! => I am pleased to introduce the "Scuffed-up Newfie Brothers"

Quote: "..your knack for snapping such awesome photos!" stevex6, this is kitchen-table-top photography at it finest! I use a desk lamp, my thirteen year old Sony Mavica with its amazing 1.2 megapixel capability, and my elbow for a tripod! Also I do edit all my photos for visual accuracy using Irfanview. Anyone with the basics can take pics of this quality. I'd love to upgrade my camera but am saving the cash to buy more coins! Also don't be shy about showing your Young Head Victorias.. I love those coins, and have been comtemplating starting a thread for them.

Seriously, mysilveryears? => hmmm, your photos have a nice hue/look to them (I wouldn't bother upgrading your camera, if I was you)
Oh, and don't worry => I will continue to show-off my Vickys (I love 'em!)
