I have another idea for labels/inserts for blank insert... how about if you make a color copy of HERALDIC ART original small envelope that came with MEDAL... then its just one sheet thick & you can cut it to size!

Oh No!
No one told me the 1963 JOHN F. KENNEDY MEDAL HERALDIC ART in NOT same size as US Half Dollar,
1963 JFK is bigger than US Half so it will not fit into the Half Dollar Dansco Page...
is the other SPECIAL issue HERALDIC ART larger than normal yearly issues?

I DID NOT KNOW!
all 7 of SPECIAL issues HERALDIC ART were larger than normal/regular #1-#60 yearly issues,
the 1963 JOHN F. KENNEDY MEDAL HERALDIC ART also has smooth rim/edge vs reeded on regular #1-#60 issues
So what size mm Dansco Page is needed for all 7 of SPECIAL issues ?

I found the JFK "occasional" piece in very nice condition, and with some lovely champagne and violet light toning.

Coming up on 50 years in just a month or so...hard to believe it's been that long. I remember my dad telling me what it was like, he was 10 years old at the time.

@brg5658: Yes, I still have my set of the HA medals and enjoy occasionally taking them out and having a look at them. The set continues to be one of my favorites.

I haven't posted any pictures largely because the web site listed at the top of this thread has images of all the medals and it didn't seem a good use of time to create duplicate images.

I see that you have been buying graded examples of the medals. Are you looking to complete an entire graded set or just collect those with horses in their designs?

@commems:

I have a complete set of the medals raw (all 69 -- if you count the Hawaii and St. Lawrence thick/thin as two types, plus the 7 special occasion pieces). I also have all of the horse pieces graded (13 from the main 60, and 1 from the occasional pieces [JFK]). I also have a smattering of the earlier pieces in duplicate (the first 24 or so). All said, I have around 120 of these medals, mostly raw. I also have the complete set of original envelopes (67) and the original issue papers for the 60 commemorative medals.

I was just trying to muster up a core of us that really enjoy these medals. I think this is one of the most under-appreciated and scarce sets of commemorative type medals around. Not to mention, the quality of these pieces is just stellar!

I have the set of 69 + the 7 also. I have the set of 8 coin club medals, Literature Set 1-60, envelopes 1-60 + 7, and an envelope only where no medal was made (Gemini Flights). I don't think there is a whole lot more I can really add to my collection (except the expensive gold ones). I wish there was because I really like these. I do agree if more people knew about these medals I think they would do great. They are so much nicer than anything the US Mint made. The old silver comm half dollars have some nice designs but some of them were made for years with 3 different mint marks for each. Rob

I recently bought 52 of the heraldic art medallions. Where is a good place to get pricing?

Best bet for pricing is to watch ebay and you can see what they really bring.

Three or four years ago you could pick them up for 15$ or less. Here lately, the common early ones go in the 25 to 40$ range. Slabbed ones will bring more. Late ones, towards the end of the series, bring 75 to 125$. Later medals in the series are much scarcer than the early ones.

I bought two double row boxes of them at a coin show for melt about 5 years ago. Most were still in the original 2x2 envelopes. One of the better purchases I've made. I add to the pile when I can.

I picked these two up back in January -- kind of forgot about photographing them -- so I finally got around to it:
