Just saw a listing on ebay Australia for a 1925 penny (8 pearls  )(item number 320847430360) but it doesn't look right (very thick flat based reverse lettering and the 5 seems a tad low). Check out the "I know nothing" disclamer  ; a total giveaway for a scammer. I put a low bid in ($2) as if it is fake (assuming I win) then I'll get a handy reference coin. So is it fake?  |

I'd suggest fake: Is it were real it would be one of the nicest 1925's in existence. (Although - if it were real it would be bargain of century on ebay) Additionally; I can't see why 'granddad's estate' would have one of nicest 1925's pennys around, and then have two of the scummiest 1918s. I can't say anything about the actual coin itself I dont have that knowledge, but for the external reasons I'd go hmmmmmmmmmmmm, no. |

Hard to tell without a more closeup of the 25 but the fields have very dark toning but the rims and edges seem to have a coppery colour. It will go for good money I'm betting.
I doubt 1918 pennies have ever been faked. Although they are a scarcer date they arent worth big bikkies unless theyre in higher grades. This one just seems to be in the fffd up grade. Not worth anything.
