Hi Folks, I am new here. I have a 1927 commemorative florin showing Parliament house & the other side is blank. And the second (year unknown)has KGV but blank on other side. Just wondering if the Melbourne Mint struck any die-proofs?

My McDonald's guide says that a uniface trial pattern (obverse only) was struck, but it doesn't say anything about how many or a reverse pattern.
How much do the coins weigh (to two decimal places)?

Yes, weigh them. Also is the blank side smooth or has concentric circles or some sort of pattern? This could indicate either a split planchet or post mint machine damage.

When I saw them last, there were no visible marks on the blanks

Most likely smoothed blank. The c.1927 uniface florin and shilling were obverse only pieces with the reverse displaying "MODEL". There were only two produced for the purpose of getting royal approval for the new obverse design.

Bingo. We have a winner.
I was almost certain that Sel would have pointed this out.

As Fred Lever would say: "Don't ask, just Google: Buckley's chance"
